Welcome back y’all! Today I want to share this amazing new fun palette by Too Faced Cosmetics and Vegas Nay also known as Naomi! Vegas Nay is a beauty blogger that has curated many beauty inspirational posts of not only herself but also other artists on her Instagram page. The palette comes with not only 12 matte and shimmer colors, but also a shadow insurance eyeshadow base, the ‘Better Than Sex’ Mascara and a Star Dust pigment. This palette is very versatile in the colors and it even comes with 6 mini tutorial cards for you to try different looks. So you not only get the tools, but you learn from Vegas Nay her self! I even did a tutorial using the card called ‘Comment Queen’ as the inspiration. Let’s go over each row and how you can use the color:

Girl's Night, Millennial, Chandelier

Girl’s Night, Millennial, Chandelier

  •  Girl’s Night-this is a great crease color and this color is also good for the lower lash line to smoke out your look.
  • Millennial is a great transition color, be sure to blend ready well in the crease. You can also put this color all over the lid just by itself with a strong winged liner
  • Chandelier is a great highlight color on the brow bone and you can also put this color all over the lid as a base for the rest of your look
Jackpot, Showgirl, #selfie

Jackpot, Showgirl, #selfie

  • Jackpot has shimmer and can be used to smoke out your look
  • Showgirl can be used all over the lid for a strong smoky look
  • #selfie can be used on the lid or highlight the inner corner.
Follow Me, The Strip, Pink Pearl

Follow Me, The Strip, Pink Pearl

  • Follow Me can be an all over lid color for your color pop days, or you can use this color just on the lower lash line for a subtle pop of color.
  • The Strip is a good all over lid color and use Jackpot in the outer corner or in the crease for a smoked out look.
  • Pink Pearl can be used on the lid along with the loose pigment that comes with the set.
Sin City, Golden Nugget, Double Tap

Sin City, Golden Nugget, Double Tap

  • Sin City is the perfect color to smoke out your looks and make them super dramatic. You can blend this into the outer corner, in the crease, and on the lower lash line.
  • Golden Nugget can be used in just the inner corner for a pop of gold, you can put it just on the lower lash line for a little glitz, or you can put it all over the lid to accentuate your smoked out look.
  • Double Tap can be used with any of these colors to smoke them out.

I hope this review was helpful and stay tuned for more tutorials and reviews! xoxo

No bad choices

Photography by Taylor Horne

When what you thought was a good choice turned out to be an unfortunate chain of events, it’s easy to feel defeated. I can honestly consider myself the queen of “good ideas that turned bad”. I learned that I am human, we are all human, and the experiences that we go through ultimately make us who we are today. Stronger, wiser, more aware and at an advantage since we know what not to do. The key is in how you react to your blunder. It’s ok to give yourself a few minutes to freak out, but quickly snap out of it and work on the next steps to make things right. Being the first to admit that your idea wasn’t so great is the first step to making it right. Whether it was a business decision, how you handled a work situation, or an interaction with a friend. This is all apart of growing up, growing as a person and making yourself the best version of yourself.  As I was heading to brunch today, wearing my favorite jean jacket and distressed denim, I was reflecting on all of the mistakes or “bad choices” I made in the past and I laugh at how worried I used to get. I am happy knowing that I have a certain power on how things will go from here on out. What was the worst choice you thought you made, but it turned out to be ok?

All Smiles

Photography by Melissa

In my mid-year review of myself, life, goals, accomplishments, I realized how absolutely blessed I am. I have learned to appreciate the things I have, where I am and where I am headed. I have grown so much and have surprised myself with what I am capable of. I am so proud of the woman I have become and even more excited for who I will be in the future. In this feeling of happiness it was only appropriate I went for this angelic skirt and this fun polka dot top to contrast the stripes. The shoes are admittedly my favorite part of the outfit and I was like a crazy person trying to snag the last pair from Zara. What is your favorite outfit when you are having a good day?

Delicate Accessories

Photography by Melissa

If you are a returning visitor, you remember that since moving to the Big Apple, all Spring I complained about it not being warm yet, and now that the warm weather is here, I got exactly what I asked for and everything that comes with it. Makeup running off my face, beads of sweat form as soon as I step outside and it is now necessary to carry an extra stick of deodorant wherever I go. Since it is not socially acceptable to walk around town wearing a bathing suit all day, I opted on pairing my lightweight button up top with this cute purple skirt. I think the heels give it a certain element of funk with the stripes and the height. It is also necessary to keep the accessories lightweight and subtle. This necklace, bracelet and ring came from Rocksbox and I LOVE it so far! With your subscription, you get to choose from their entire collection of designer jewelry and select your favorites for your wish list. Then you are sent 2 or 3 pieces from your wish list and you can wear them for a month, then return it and get a whole new set of jewelry. If you love one or all of your pieces, then you can buy any of the pieces that you “rent“. This is perfect for those that love staying on trend but don’t want to spend a ton of money keeping up with the latest trends.  For a FREE MONTH of Rocksbox, use my code wrkitgirlxoxo at check out! When I met Stuart

Photography by Taylor Horne

Wearing: Black Crop Top | Nude Stuart Weitzman Heels | Madewell jeans

I love nude heels because you can wear the simplest outfit and a pair of nude heels can instantly make the outfit sexy and fun. I was shopping at Macy’s recently and I came across the Stuart Weitzman section. I decided to treat myself to my first pair of Stuart heels and I am in absolute love with my new Stuart Weitzman heels. From the moment I tried them on, I felt myself stand taller and walk with a little swing in my hip. Today I decided to keep my hair, makeup and outfit simple to keep the focus on my curves. For a long time I was ashamed of my body and my thin frame, but now I have learned to embrace who I am and what I look like at any size. I encourage you to embrace yourself and wear things that will make you appreciate you! Because if no one will appreciate you, you can always count of yourself.

50 degrees in June

Wearing: Forever 21 trench coat | Navy striped shirt | Ripped Jeans | Red Fringe Heels

To say the least, I am super shocked that it’s in the 50s and we are now officially in June here in NYC. In all fairness the weather has been rainy and cloudy, but still. However, to keep warm in this mid-summer cold, I decided to wear a trench coat with a pair of my favorite ripped jeans. To compensate for the drabness outside, I wore these cute bright-colored fringe heels. The combination is perfect for me because I like adding a little funk and flare. How do you try to look cute on a bad weather day?

How to Live a Stress-Free Life

What I’m Wearing: Silver Pumps | Zara Pleated Maxi Skirt similar | Marc Jacobs Jean Jacket | Basic Black T-shirt

Wearing this flowy maxi skirt reminds me to just go with the flow! The feel of this skirt is light, airy, and I can move so easily. This is how I try and maneuver through life and especially since moving to New York. Light and airy and easy going. Once I accepted where I was and what I had, that was when all worries subsided and I felt more full than I ever have. When I made the decision to accept life, good & bad, I was able to navigate through tough situations stronger and wiser without much hurt and pain. I was also able to really appreciate life’s moments during the good times and live in the ‘now’. I am accepting of life and I try to not take life personally. That being said, I am not made of stone. I still get excited, upset, nervous, and anxious, but I too have to remind myself that this moment in time will pass.

Things that may happen in our lives are not necessarily to hurt us. They are to teach us something or show us something. Don’t get me wrong, life is still tough, rough and full of hard decisions to be made. But it is up to you to open your mind so you can fully benefit from life’s lessons. I challenge you to try going through one week where you do not worry about the things happening in your life or that will happen, but rather focus on a plan to work your way out of the spot your in. Focus your energy in a positive direction and that also includes the people you are surrounded by. Surround yourself with positive people who will support you in this mindset change. I hope you try this out and I would love to hear your thoughts on this topic.

Red Stripes

Finding a fashion gem is hard and rare, and when you do, you must buy! It’s a known rule. I found this gem of a top not too long ago at a vintage store. I immediately fell in love with it not only because it was my favorite color, but it has a collar and is long sleeved. I know, I’m a nerd at heart. I get way too excited over collared shirts. So I bought it and then wasn’t sure when, where or how I wanted to wear it. I finally had the opportunity when going out for a quick meeting. It was a little chilly out and I knew I wanted to wear this shirt. It was cold enough that I needed a jacket so I figured  ‘why not wear a jean jacket on top?’ Long story short, I loved this combination and I really wanted to share it with you! Do you ever buy that one piece that you absolutely had to have, but then it takes you a while to figure out how or where you want to wear it? We’d love to hear about your experience!

Obligatory All Black Outift

Photography by Taylor Horne

My mood was certainly reflected in today’s outfit and ironically it’s the obligatory NYC All-Black outfit.  I must say, I was in a pretty “don’t mess with me attitude” all day. From the time I woke up, until now. I think the NYC vibes are rubbing off on me. Or rather they’re starting to get to me. Everyone in such a hurry to get from here to there and they get upset if you’re not going at their pace. I had someone nearly push me out of the way even though everyone was walking in the same direction. I’m usually a positive person and don’t let things get to me, but a person can be pushed around so much before they finally say “hey enough already!” I am just having a moment and will get over the difference in pace in due time. In the meantime, I just need to put a pep in my step! At least I looked cute. That always makes me feel better.

Life in New York City: The Series

Photography by Taylor Horne

Ever since moving to NYC, I have never felt more unproductive in my life. Okay…that is such an exaggeration, but I think you might get my flow. Every one is so busy, they’re in such a hurry and just ‘has somewhere to be’. Whereas myself, I am new here, I can count on one hand the amount of people I know/hangout with, and I would like to be one of those people who has somewhere to be, but I just don’t have anywhere to be. I just don’t. I don’t have appointments, I am not heading to the next major audition, etcetera etcetera. What I can say is that I would love to be one of those people with a purpose, or who seem to have a purpose. I feel funny saying this, because my observations are so indicative that “she’s not from around here”, but I can’t help it. I know I’ll get to where I want to be. I’m just super anxious to dive in and get acquainted with you New York. I’ve dreamed of you all my life and I loved you before I even knew you.

As you might have guessed, we are starting a new series called Life in New York City to chronicle daily life and findings of WrkItGirl in New York! For more daily adventures of WrkItGirl in NY, follow on Instagram and Twitter @wrkitgirl and check out the hashtag #wrkitgirlgoestonyc
