We had an amazing time last night at Fashion Houston and so happy to return. Last year was amazing, but this year is even greater! As you enter, you get the experience of the exciting red carpet with lights and photographers taking your picture and sexy Audi cars to pose with. Last year we met Yolanda Adams and we shared how much that moment meant, and this year we met the Founder/President of Fashion Houston Jared Lang! If it weren’t for Fashion Houston, when would we have had that full circle moment with Yolanda? Who knows.
Marios Schwab opened the show with a fantastic mini-movie and Catherine Deane finished the first half of the show with her gorgeous dresses.
Last night we saw some amazing and talented emerging designers such as Amir Taghi, Viet Kent Nguyen, and Jo’se Reyes. We were in love with Amir’s hand crafted feather eye lashes and Viet’s awesome music with colorful pieces. We were in awe over Jo’se’s dramatic gowns at the end of his collection on the runway.
Our favorite designers of the night were Talbot Runhof and their perfect and crisp designs. They used a lot of black and white and pops of yellow in the collection.
We were so happy that we had the chance to be on the press team for Fashion Houston this year! Thanks to Houston Fashion Bloggers for passing along this opportunity.

The other day we invited you to the Fall + Fashion & Fiat Event at Helfman Fiat and we were so happy to meet you and hear some of your favorite posts from Wrk IT Girl! When we arrived, we pulled up at Helfman and it was immediate VIP treatment with complimentary Valet from Superb Parking Management. Lights illuminated the building as if it was a Hollywood premiere and made it an exciting way to roll up. We walked in and are immediatly in awe of live artistry by Elizabeth Cencini and some of her art was displayed for purchase. We enjoyed great drinks provided by DASH Vodka and light bites from the fruit and cheese platter set up. This mixer had such a diverse group of people from different industries such as finance, the arts, media, engineering, etc. We had so much fun with you all and we ended the night with the Harlem Shake! Check out some of the photos below. We had such a great time and thank you to all who were able to make it out. A special thank you to Brand Elixir for having us as a co-host for the event!
Today is our very first Favorites Fridays and through this series we will be sharing random things that we are in love with at the moment. This week’s Favorites Friday are Fall Flower Arrangements. We have had 2 in the last couple weeks and will officially make it a Fall tradition to always keep an arrangement around. We think that flowers are the first indicators of change and new beginnings and we have embraced this theory full force. Depending on what area you live in, flowers could be easily accessible. We are based in Southern United States (Texas) and flower arrangements are super easy to obtain. You will always find a floral section in your local grocery store and you can get a cute arrangement for as little as $5. You can easily spruce up your dinner table or office space with a simple and affordable way to bring in the fall spirit! We wanted to share some Fall Floral inspiration with you and show off our own arrangement that’s in the office now.
We love a bold lip here at WrkITGirl.com and that makes us über excited that the bold, matte Burgundy lip is in this fall. In our cover photo we have featured a Lancôme Absolu Crème De Mat and Armani Beauty Rouge D’Armani Downtown Collection that are deep wine/burgundy colors both under $35.
It could possibly be a bit much for some people who are not used to that pop of color in the middle of their face. We have 2 different ways to wear this look:
Bold: Be sure to use a lip liner before you apply your dark red lip. A great one is Dark Raspberry by Make Up Forever because it is long wearing and waterproof. In addition to lining your lips, go ahead and fill in to the center of your lips. This will prevent the color from bleeding and also help keep your lipstick on longer. Finally, go ahead and apply that bold color in a couple coats and you’re ready to go!
Toned Down: Try using a lip stain that’s a dark berry color instead of a very pigmented lipstick. You can also try putting on the lipstick, then blotting some of the color off by pressing your lips firmly together on a tissue.
Check out some of our favorite celebrities wearing the trend!
We had the pleasure of attending a Macy’s Fall Fashion Preview Meetup at Macy’s Memorial City Mall in Houston, TX. We were shown several great fashion finds from different brands including Rachel Roy, INC, Ralph Lauren, and Ivanka Trump. The trends highlighted were the military trend, embellishments, stripes & geometric shapes, green/emerald colors. Our amazing presenters were Macy’s Managers Erica & Kaitlyn and they were so hospitable and knowledgeable of the merchandise. We sat in on the presentation enjoying some lite bites and italian soda. It was such a great time and we can’t wait to work with Macy’s again!
Enjoy some of the beautiful styles below!

A couple weeks ago Wrk IT Girl attended the Topshop Loves Houston event in Nordstrom at Houston Galleria. We shopped and mingled with other Topshop and fashion lovers. Dallas fashion blogger Merritt Beck of The Style Scribe hosted the event and she was so sweet. Merritt shared with us some of her favorite Topshop pieces, including the motorcycle jacket that she threw over her shoulders. We received swag bags with custom Topshop Loves Houston labels, enjoyed awesome beats from a local DJ, and makeup touchups with Topshop Beauty products. We can’t wait for Topshop Beauty to be available in-store one day. In the meantime head over the their website to view the selection of products!
We attended the Houston Vintage Festival a couple weeks ago and wanted to share some of our favorite vintage boutiques we came across! We fell in love with A Hippy Heart Vintage setup in it’s little trailer. The clothes were actually hanging on racks inside the trailer along side a setup of a mini seating area and oven. We also loved the fantastic selections from F&F Vintage and Eleanor Rose Vintage & Custom Garments Boutiques and even splurged on a few items for a future photoshoot for WrkITGirl! Kat’s Meow salon was in the building and were styling vintage hair makeovers for only $20! There were so many great hair styles and makeup going on at the fest it felt like we were in the 40s and 50s. Although it rained cats and dogs that day there was a great turnout and there were lots of fellow vintage lovers out and about! We hope to see you at the next one!

WrkITGirl.com had the pleasure of interviewing Jonathas from Season 2 of NBC’s The Voice and we had an amazing time with him. He was on Team Christina Aguilera when he was on the show and he was definitely a favorite of the ladies. He continues to amaze his fans by creating musical hits like “Written in Stone” and “Girl from Portugal”. This Houston Native (turned Austin, TX transplant) recently stopped into Houston, TX hot spot Debonair Lounge to perform, and he shared with us his inside secrets from what inspires his style to his beauty tips for the busy/traveling man. He wore all black and his entire outfit was Zara. He wore a Zara black top with faux leather appliqué and black Zara harem pants. For more on our interview, click the video below to listen in on the interview.
Stayed Tuned for more here at WrkITGirl.com xoxo!
We recently attended the Sip & Shop Event held at Empire Lounge in Houston, TX. The event was very swank with a full bar and great music by DJ Young Streetz. There were vintage shops like Eleanor Rose or F&F Vintage and there were trendy boutiques like House of Luxe and rebelRise Accessories. We fell in love with the super cute selection from children’s boutique Lux & Lola! After browsing around and buying a few things, we got to chat with a few of the boutique owners. We found that they were all independent young women who have a common vision to make their mark in the fashion industry! If you haven’t done so already, you should stop by the Sip & Shop events coming up soon!
You can come by and shop vintage and new at Empire on Monday nights at 3101 San Jacinto in Houston, TX.
